Battalion History |

The Battalion was formed at Newport in August 1917 from the 48th Provisional Battalion TF, made up of personnel of the Monmouthshire and Herefordshire Regiments who were ineligible for service overseas. The Battalion was placed under command of the 224th Brigade and initially based at Cromer for Home and Coastal Defence duties in the Norfolk area. The Battalion was moved to Mundesley in the summer of 1917 and finally to Happisburgh in May 1918. The unit was disbanded in early 1919. |
