Notes: 1. JOHNSON was wounded near Aghyl Dere on 7th August 1915. 2. WILLOUGHBY was wounded at Chunuk Bair on 8th August 1915. 3. PHILLPOTTS was wounded at Chunuk Bair on 9th August 1915. 4. HASLOCK was wounded at the "B68, B69" area in the Sulajik Sector on 28th October 1915. 5. CAUNTER was wounded at "Pointed Ruin", south of Kut, on 14th December 1916. 6. STONE was wounded at "Pointed Ruin", south of Kut, on 14th December 1916. 7. ROBERTSON was wounded west of Nahr al Massag, Shumran bend on the River Tigris on 25th February 1917. 8. NORRIS died of wounds previously received in a bomb accident in the UK in early 1916. He had only joined the unit on 15th May 1916. |
Battalion History |
Formed at Horfield Barracks Bristol as a Service Battalion in August 1914, part of "K1". Full Title - 7th (Service) Battalion. Assigned to 39th Infantry Brigade, 13 (Western) Division. Arrived in Egypt in June 1915 then moved to Mudros in early July preparing for deployment to Cape Helles, Gallipoli. Moved to ANZAC Cove in early August 1915. Deployed in July 1918 as part of "Dunsterforce" (North Persia Force). Served in Gallipoli, Egypt, Mesopotamia (Iraq) and North Persia.
The Battalion was disbanded in September 1919, personnel being transferred to 8th Battalion Ox & Bucks LI.
