Notes: 1. POPE saw active service with 13th Battalion. He relinquished his commission on 18th May 1918 due to ill health and placed on Retired List. 2. DENNY had non-commissioned service with 2nd Battalion in France/Flanders and then Salonika. 3. COLE was detached from 2/5th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment and died of influenza/pneumonia. 4. INGLIS died of cancer at a Nursing Home in Cheltenham. He had previously seen active service with the Tank Corps. 5. LOVETT was a previous Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment. 6. GOSLING was murdered with other British officers by Bolsheviks who had mutinied whilst serving in "Dyer's Battalion" in North Russia. He was detached from 1st Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment. 7. BURGES was the Commanding Officer of 3rd (Reserve) Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment. 8. FOTHERGILL serving with 2/5th Battalion when taken POW by Germans on 25th March 1918. He was repatriated on 21st December 1918. Placed on Retired List 5th May 1919 whilst serving with 3rd (Reserve) Battalion. 9. MACHON was wounded on 6th September 1916 whilst serving with 9th Battalion Devonshire Regiment. Served with 3rd (Reserve) Battalion until 18th February 1919 when he was placed on the Retired List. 10. HILL served with 18th Battalion and 2/5th Battalion prior to relinquishing commission on 19th October 1920 and placed on Retired List. 11. LANE saw active service with 12th Battalion and later served at HQ Ireland Command Depot, Ballykinlar and was placed on the Retired List on 10th December 1917. |
